My proudest moment for this week was the compliment my CE gave to Gardner-Webb. Whenever she was explaining to me, how teachers are evaluated using the North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards, I told her how we are breaking down the standards and creating websites about them. She was furthermore impressed when I told her that we always connect a standard with an experience we have encountered throughout the week. My CE then told the principal yesterday how impressed she was with Gardner-Webb in how well they were training me. One of the best reasons for being in the classroom is to see first hand all of the information I have been taught during this semester as well as previous semesters. The lesson I have been struggling the most with this week is how to help the EC student and the ELL student in my CE's class. Hello Everyone, I hope you are all doing great this week. I cannot believe that we are already halfway to the end of the semester. In beginning my blog for today, I will start with the positive. My proudest moment for this week was that my CE trusted me to take the students outside by myself. I had to watch my time very closely since we only had a few minutes before the school bell. I did what I have seen my CE do before. She uses a cell phone alarm as a warning for when she has to be somewhere. I had students line up to go back inside seven minutes before the bell rang. My biggest struggle this week was knowing how to deal with a student being “hurt.” Students will use any excuse to go up to the office to get a pack of ice. I was concerned without how to deal with this issue as it seemed to be happening more and more frequently. On Wednesday, my CE put a stop to the nonsense. She told all the students that if they had to go to the office to get ice they will miss out on reces...

Hello Everyone, I hope you are all having a good week. I am having such wonderful experiences in the classroom this week including teaching task 2 lesson plans, going on a field trip, and observing a fire department presentation at school. I was able to teach my first task 1 lesson on Monday. Unfortunately, the one lesson will be divided up into two days because there was too much content to cram into one day. I was able to see how the daily schedule can get so messed up. We had to interrupt our morning work to see a skit the firemen performed for the kids. When we came back I had approximately twenty minutes to start my lesson which was Picture and Text Clues. Students learn to identify what the meaning of the story is by looking at pictures clues, text clues, and background knowledge. I had to finish the lesson in the afternoon because after the twenty minutes my CE had groups come in from different classrooms for the reading lesson. I hope everyone is having a good week. The days are flying by so fast. I can hardly keep up with the time. I know September the 1st must have been yesterday. For this week, I have been working on the water project, science fair project, various discussion boards, and the list goes on. My proudest moment this week is working on the completion of my LE1. Though I am not completely done with it, I have been able to experience and write out my lesson plan presentations. At least now I have something down on paper which can be corrected. Thank you to Dr. Clark for the awesome formative feedback. I do appreciate your patient guidance into the edTPA lesson planning. Thank you to Dr. Parker who introduced edTPA in social studies. Every time I go into the school I have a new learning experience. For this week, my most proud moment did not take place inside of the classroom. Nurturing and kindness with an edge of sternness pays off. I walked past the YMCA on the way to the school parking lot. I had just finished discussing lesson plan strategies with my CE. It occurred to me to stop by and see if the two students from my CE's classroom who go to YMCA were still there. These students are special low average reading students who I have been helping. Both of them came running toward me to get a hug. I know that standard 2, teachers nurture and provide a good atmosphere for their classroom would work well to apply to this situation. I think about the students every day even though I only work at the school two full days a week. The thing which gave me the most struggle this week was Monday's math lesson. Welcome 4 I had an awesome day with my CE. My proudest moment in the classroom was supervising two teams in tic tac toe competition. I had just taught a lesson about exclamation marks, question marks, and periods. There were nine blocks, three for each row. Each block contained a sentence. Students had to say whether the sentence should end with a period, exclamation point, or a question mark. The students were on the rug so I split them into two groups. Each group would discuss what answer they would give me. I can not describe how much I enjoyed their excitement and enthusiasm. Some of the students before the game had gotten the answers wrong whenever I had asked them questions. Pressed for time we could only do seven out of the nine squares, but six of them were answered correctly. A great lesson I can use in my classroom is to inspire competition. Students LOVE it. Hello Everyone, Welcome to Week 3  My proudest accomplishment this week was being able to teach two lessons in the classroom. My CE was having to give MClass testing for the BOY(Beginning of the Year). Forrest Hunt starts testing the second week of school to see what the students reading levels are currently on. I told my CE I would be happy to teach lessons if she needed me to. Fortunately, she took me up on the offer. I taught a reading lesson in the morning where I read a story called, "Wemberly Worried." Students then did a cutout craft of Wemberly. The second lesson consisted of Math. We worked on an addition problem and students were given out math papers. Each math paper had about forty questions consisting of counting circles or drawing circles to represent the amount or number.
