Week 13

I would rate my week a five. I was able to get all my standards checked off with some exceptions to modify my lessons and to do a group project in the classroom. I feel that I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel for graduation. Next week, I look forward to getting all the documents ready for my portfolio presentation. I am so thankful for an Easter break where we can power down just a little and enjoy some time with our families. Seven questions to end your week: How do you do group projects in your classroom?   Are there any geometry math apps you use in your classroom? Do you use brain pop for science or social studies?   What did your students do for Easter?   How do you discuss Easter in the classroom?   What are some researched based strategies you have learned in the classroom?   What did you do for your spring bulletin board?   Observe : I was very happy to get my bulletin board done for spring before we...

Blog 12

Overall my week went smoothly that I would rate it a 4. The biggest highlight of my week was finding out my edTPA score. I was so glad to finally get my grade.   Seven questions to end your week: How do you teach geometry in your classroom? What kind of manipulatives do you use in geometry? What is the easiest way to explain to students the differences and similarities between a rhombus, square, and rectangle? What are some jobs you give your students during group time? How are some ways you have integrated cultural diversity in your classroom? What does your classroom do for Easter? Where does your classroom go for field trips? Is the field trip connected with the curriculum your room is teaching? Observe : This week I was happy to complete the rough draft of my philosophy of education. I found it much easier to write this time than the first time I wrote one philosophy two years ago. I have not only read in books what happens in the school environment, bu...

Week 11

Hello Everyone, I hope you have had a great week. Questions for the Week: What are some good technologies do you use in your classroom? Does your school have a science night? What programs does your school have to raise money? How are some ways you integrate science into your classroom? Does your teacher use anchor charts? How are some ways you have had several groups of students collaborate with each other on a project? How are you modeling writing? Observe: I feel my biggest accomplishment is helping students figure out how to add two-digit numbers. Students really struggled with the process of adding the two-digit numbers at the beginning of the week. For the most part, most of the students are understanding the process. Reflect: I need to make sure when I am demonstrating how to complete an application problem, to use literacy. Students will need to write a sentence restating the problem. I will also show students how the number looks in its written format....

Week 10

Hello Everyone, I would give my week a four. I was able to experiment with some lessons this week since we did not have to do the regular phonics and LIF (literacy instruction framework) because of the three day week. I experimented during the time by having students use technology to display their learning.  I had several unusual instances which I will discuss on my blog. I discussed different cultures around the world and I had students to create a pages sheet and pic collage as an assessment of their understanding. Though students had never heard the word cultures, pages, or pic collage, they did a good job adapting to new information. Questions to ask for the Week: 1.What technologies do your students use to create something to prove what they have learned? 2. What are some excellent math manipulatives do you use which help students better understand math principles? 3. What are some good activities does your class do in the month of March? 4.Do your school use ti...

Week 9

This week was an extremely busy week. Perhaps in the middle of the week, I would have rated it a one because of all the extra edTPA work. However, at the end of the week looking back on all the work, I am so glad to have finally been able to submit it. Now I can start working on my portfolio and keep my focus on graduation. I would rate my week a 4. I am also glad my CE will be coming back next week. She has been out for three and a half weeks. Though the first-grade team and the TA have been a big help, I look forward to having my CE back in the classroom to observe me. We will again start having the conversations which will better improve my teaching skills. I know a lot of improvements still need to be made before I graduate. Questions for the Week. What are some good literacy strategies you use? What some good graphic organizers? What do you use to keep parents informed in your classroom? Does your classroom have a weekly newsletter? How do you use the clip chart in ...
