Welcome to Week 4
Hello Everyone!
For reference learning experience, I was impacted with the idea of differentiation through google community. I really like how the three pillars which are philosophy, principles, and practices break down the three characteristics of differentiation. The concept of philosophy teaches instructors to observe students in a normal way. Every student is different therefore an entire classroom will need several levels of instruction. As for principles, building great lesson plans, using assessment, and providing quality leadership are great ways to fulfill this column. Lastly, practices explain how
teachers should be respectful of their students providing each individual with their way to learn.
In my research and learning outside of class, I have been examining the Revised New Blooms Taxonomy. I found a neat visual which breaks down each section of the taxonomy in iPad apps. For example, podcast falls under evaluating while tweeting falls under understanding. All standards support the revised version of equality but it is in app format.

My inside and outside learning connects with NCTCS, "Teachers establish a Respectful Environment for a Diverse Population of Students." As a teacher, I need to be aware of what learning abilities my students have so that I can differentiate assignments for each student. Therefore, differentiation is crucial to a successful classroom. Students can learn their assignments the way that works best for them. Teachers are respectful of the students learning capabilities, therefore establishing a "respectful environment" for a variety of learners "diverse population."
Differentiation is a process which I will use every day in the classroom. I will check on students while they are working on assignments. I will be respectful of students needs and prioritize knowing each student's learning capabilities along with their weaknesses and strengths the first weeks of class. I also love the iPad visual. Because I will be using the New Blooms Taxonomy as a reference guide to writing lesson plans, I plan to use these apps to incorporate within my lesson structure. Rutherford County has a great system for the student to have iPads in the classroom, therefore assigning apps for students for a project would be a great technology tool.
Have a great week, Everyone!

Kelly, I like that you did some research on the new revised Bloom's Taxonomy. The app is very easy to use and allows for easy access. You can never have too many tools. Iredell county has a program just like Rutherford that gives a free iPad for each student that allows them to get familiar with new technology and assists them in learning. During last years clinical I watched an entire class only use their tablets they had no textbooks.
ReplyDeleteKelly,
ReplyDeleteThank you for clearly connecting the blog checkbric this week! I was able to easily move through your blog and follow your thoughts. It seems as thought the various requirements are really coming together for you in the class. This is great! Keep your future classroom in mind!
