Welcome to Week 12
Greetings Everyone,
I hope everyone is doing good as we come to the final weeks of school. As Dr. Parker said in his video, we are pushing toward the home run.
For my social studies work this week, I have been finalizing my flipped lesson plan component. By having students watch a five-minute video, the teacher saves more time for class activities. We see the flipped component example every week in Dr. Parker's class. We watch a video before class so that he can answer our questions in class without having to go over information which is due. Students will already know what to do when they reach the classroom which will cut down on teacher instruction.
For work outside of the SSED 307, I learned about a great resource called ReadWorks. This website has several lesson plans which include the standards, activities, and reading passages. My clinical educator told me that she uses read works several times for her lesson plans.

In connecting to the NCTPS, teachers facilitate learning by incorporating technology into the classroom. By creating flipped on classroom lesson plans, the teacher is able to focus more on activities in the classroom then student instruction.
Standard 3, teachers knows the content they teach when applied to the website read works. By looking up a lesson plan on a subject for the class, the teacher will be able to have standards, content, and a worksheet ready for students work which fits with the curriculum.
In application to my classroom, I will consider using the flipped lesson in my class. The resource would be perfect to have once a week to introduce the students to the content of what will be covered for the week. I will also be using the ReadWorks website for my information. I would encourage you to go on to the website. You do have to register for it but the website itself is 100 percent free.
I hope you all have a good rest of the week.
Cast all of your cares upon Him for He cares for you 1 Peter 5:7 has always been one of my favorite verses to quote in times of stress and anxiety. Stay with the class. You will finish.

Kelly,
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of Readworks before, but I look forward to checking it out and implementing it into my classroom. Flipped lessons are a great way to have students learn outside, apply inside. I am unsure of how well it would be able to be implemented in an elementary school classroom, but I know it could be done. Thanks for that verse! Have a great week.
Mallory
Kelly, thank you for sharing the verse at the end, it was much needed! I agree with you about how the flipped lesson plans are very useful and helpful. They save time in the classroom and give students a heads up about what the week or the lesson is going to look like. I will definitely use flipped lessons in my classroom if I have the opportunity to. Thank you for sharing the website it sounds like it is very useful and I will definitely have to check it out. I hope you have a good week!
ReplyDeleteKelly, Readworks sounds like it could be a very useful tool in our classrooms. I will definitely have to check that out. I like what you said about flipped lessons saving time. I'm sure we all know by now that time is of the essence inside classrooms and flipped lessons could be a way to help make sure that all of our time is being spent educating our students. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteKelly,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the words of encouragement, I am sure we can all use them! I was initially skeptical about the Flipped lesson. Now I have changed my opinion since having completed one myself. With students emersed in technology this add another layer for students to engage and interact with learning.
